Memory Care

Memory care communities provide all of the care and services that a traditional personal care/assisted living setting provides such as meals and medication management, however, these specialized communities cater to the specific needs of individuals who have some form of dementia.  Memory care centers provide enhanced security measures to ensure that residents who may tend to wander are kept safe and are not able to leave the building unaccompanied.  Memory care centers have specially trained staff who have been educated and trained specifically on how to care for the senior with dementia.  They know how to respond to the many types of behaviors and situations which can arise, and can navigate the communication barriers which accompany dementia.  Structured activities are also a part of the day in memory care, with facilities offering relevant programming, calming activities and therapies that are tailored to memory loss in order to reduce agitation and confusion yet maintain as much cognitive ability as possible.  Memory care provides 24/7 assistance; helping with all ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) such as assistance with ambulation, bathing and showering, grooming, dressing, eating, transferring in and out of a chair and bed, and help in the bathroom.
